Anime me!

This is a self portrait of me ANIME STYLE! 

I'm experimenting different styles of drawing and I thought I'd embrace the world of ANIME! (I don't know why I need to say that in capitals, I just do.) 

I am fully aware that it looks nothing like me, but I guess thats the whole point of anime isn't it? They don't exactly look human, who has eyes THAT big? And noses that are that small and cute? 

Anyway, despite the fact it looks nothing like me - I like it. I've kitted myself out in my frisbee shorts, cleats and long socks. Perhaps I should have drawn myself holding a frisbee, but I quite like the arms folded look. 

When you can't sleep: Draw birds

I'm back posting this to 1 year ago, reason being - it's on my Deviant Art from October, so I can't exactly post it as recent work, but I still want it to be on here. Simply because I love it. Its beautiful. I couldn't sleep at all so I got to book out from downstairs. And in the bookcase downstairs we have a lot of Non-fiction books about birds. I flicked through the photographs, picked up a pen and some colourful origami paper and started to draw. 

These birds are quite significant to me because I actually took a photo of them and stuck them on my C.V (after a bit of photoshop tinkering) last year to make me stand out a little. This C.V subsequently got me an invaluable and unforgettable internship at the best place EVER.   

Brief for BBC Set Design Trainee Scheme application portfolio

The following set design drawing was one that I drew recently to depict the differences between Working Class and Middle Class in Pre-1914 (1st world war) Britain. I used the inspiration from the BBC Drama: Upstairs Downstairs and the famous play: ‘An Inspector Calls’ which was set in a 1912 Middle Class drawing room.  By using the Drawing Room of a Middle Class house and the Kitchen on a Working Class house I could combine the two sets together with one half of each room with the table as the main feature joining the two classes in the centre. The drawing took a long time because every single item that was drawn had to be researched, I watched online clips of a film adaptation of ‘An Inspector Calls’ as well as the first series of ‘Upstairs Downstairs’ to get a feel of the differences and tensions between the two classes.
